Garage Build - Week 8 & 9

Roof complete, dormer complete, front brick nearly complete, extension powered up. Hopefully the exterior will be complete in a week's time as will the HVAC work. Then they will start work on the interior.

Garage Build - Week 6 & 7

Framing is complete, windows are in, electrical lines have been run. They will finish the exterior next week and also power up the extension. After that it's on to the interior. Plenty of pictures.

Garage Build - Week 5

We're mid way through framing at the end of week 5. It rained a couple of days causing us to lose some time. Other than that, everything is looking good. Now that the ceiling is in place for the garage, you truely realize how hangar like the garage is. It can easily fit 3 cars wide 2 cars deep (i.e., a total of 6 cars) without a problem.

Back door landing/step out. It's a lot lower than I thought it would be.

Looks like the Fire Tree will be right up against the extension. Luckily it has survived the worst of the construction.

Garage Build - Week 3

Another week of waiting for the Fairfax county inspector. Luckily this will be the last inspection we will need for a while. The slab went in this week. It is 12" thick and can take the planned 2 lifts easily.

Garage Build - Week 2

Week 2 involved a lot of sitting around as we waiting for a second Fairfax county inspection. At the end of the week, we had poured the foundation and prepped the ground for the slab.

Foundation.

Garage Build - Week 1

After nearly a year of preparations and delays which saw us part ways with two general contractors (GC) - Potomac Garage (worst GCs ever, the main sales guy Zev Pomerance is an outright liar and a crook) and Bowa Builders (ridiculously overpriced) - we finally got all our drawings in place, permits from the county, and finally our GC started work. They had to dig all the way down to 7 feet for the footings before the county gave permission to pour them, and so at the end of week 1, this is what the garage looks like.

First two days of digging:
